Jill experience includes more than 15 years working for major labels (Island/MCA/A&M/BMG) Jill also co-founded a new independent record company called The Orange Record Label (distributed by Universal).
Jill also spent 11 years at BMG dedicated to marketing both an international roster (Including all of RCA New York, UK and Nashville, Arista and BNA Nashville) and the award-winning roster of Canadian artists that included Paul Brandt, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Prairie Oyster, Michelle Wright, Charlie Major, The Wilkinsons and Aaron Lines.
In August 2008, Jill and long time colleague Ron Kitchener kicked off Road Angel Entertainment, an independent marketing and promotion services company catering primarily to the country music industry. Jill now runs Road Angel on her own with full time staff. For the initial 5 years Jill filled the role of day to day manager for Dean Brody and High Valley via the aforementioned Ron Kitchener’s RGK Entertainment.
Road Angel has been home to many artists including Paul Brandt, Tebey, Doc Walker, Emerson Drive, Jake Mathews, Beverly Mahood, Russell de Carle and many more, as well as American’s Thompson Square, Little Big Town and Phil Vassar.
Historically Jill has served on the CCMA Board of Directors for 5 terms (in excess of 14 years – potentially the longest serving board member in the history of the CCMA) more than half as 1st Vice Chair and headed such committees as Promo and Marketing.
Jill also served on the CARAS Country Advisory Committee for the Juno Awards for 9 years, chairing it for 4 and has chaired the Adult Alternative committee for CARAS/Junos for the past 7 years.
Jill spends a lot of time advising, mentoring and advocating for artists who are finding their way through the industry as part of her mandate to help develop Canadian music locally and globally.
