A Multi-Talented Free Spirit
Musician, Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist, Creative & Music Director are just a few titles David James has acquired over the past 30 years. David started his musical studies at Martin Luther King Jr. elementary school in the 3rd grade playing the recorder and soon advanced to what would be his primary instrument and first love, the Sousaphone. From grade school to college, David played his way through both the brass and woodwind families earning countless awards and prestigious honors. David has held the position of section leader & assistant section leader from the day he started playing Tuba, until his final performance in college. During the spring semester of his sophomore year at Edward Waters College, David transitioned from playing in the Triple Threat Marching Band, to singing with the World Renowned Concert and Chamber Choir, were he was classically trained.
David began performing at local night clubs throughout the city of Jacksonville Florida, and has since ventured to venues throughout the state of Florida. Performing at Jazz festivals, private political campaign parties, Rallies, Weddings, Reunions singing a myriad of hits ranging from the 70’s through the early 2000’s. David’s sultry soulful style of singing is heavily influenced by legends like Marvin Gaye & Luther Vandross, and also by some of today’s artist like John Legend and Anthony Hamilton.
David can be seen every Sunday morning where he serves as the Minister of Music, for Life at The River International Ministries where he leads a team of worshippers in praise and worship. David has actively been engaged in the music field for 23 years and is showing no signs of slowing down. Combining all of his musical endeavors, David is preparing to release his second project in hopes to inspire a generation of dreamers and believers both young and old to continue seeking truth and purpose.
